Let’s clear up all your Sydney wedding questions
From the nitty gritty of the paperwork through to “what are you going to wear on the day?” here’s everything couples ask before booking me for their wedding.
Sydney Wedding Celebrant & MC Frequently Asked Questions
-
1) Couples need to submit a Notice of Intended Marriage to their Celebrant, at least one calendar month prior to a marriage ceremony - they need to have their signatures witnessed by a Celebrant or another authority listed on page 2 of the document and provide copies of their ID - either a passport or a birth certificate AND a drivers licence. If they have been previously married they are required to show proof of divorce or a death certificate for the previous partner.
- I provide a copy of the form and talk them through how to complete it plus I send an email with instructions on the type of ID documents that are required and which parts of the form they need to complete - which is essentially the first page before signing the second page in front of an authorised witness - I offer to be the authorised witness and can watch them sign the Notice either online or in person. If they are unsure of how to obtain a divorce notice I provide a link to the authority where they can access a copy.
Declaration of No legal Impediment
is a form that I fill out and they are required to sign before the wedding ceremony - it can be done at the rehearsal or on the day of the ceremony before they start.
The Official Certificate of Marriage is the form that the couple, their two adult witnesses and the celebrant need to sign after they have said their vows in front of their witnesses.
A Commemorative Certificate - Form 15 - is prepared with the couple’s details and then signed by the couple, their two adult witnesses and the celebrant after the Official Certificate has been signed. It is then presented to the couple as a keep sake.
Application for a Registered Marriage Certificate is required to get the document that gives legal proof that they are married - I include the application fee in my package and apply via the celebrant portal for their certificate which is given priority process time and arrives within two weeks after the application to the requested address via registered mail.

Initial Enquiry – Couples reach out through my website or social media, and I respond promptly with details about my services, packages, and availability.
Discovery Meeting – We meet (in person or via Zoom) for a relaxed chat about your love story, your vision for the day, and whether you’d like me to be your Celebrant, MC, or both. This is where we start shaping the tone and style of your celebration.
Booking Confirmation – Once you’re ready to move forward, I send through a booking form and deposit details to secure your date.
Planning and Collaboration – We work together to design a ceremony that reflects who you are as a couple. I provide inspiration, wording ideas, and structure guidance. If I’m also your MC, this stage includes mapping out your reception flow, speeches, introductions, and timing.
Legal Paperwork – I handle all the legalities, including the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and post-ceremony registration with Births, Deaths & Marriages NSW.
Drafting the Ceremony – I write a fully personalised ceremony script that tells your story with warmth, humour, and heart. You’ll review it and make any tweaks until it feels perfect.
Rehearsal (if required) – We run through the ceremony together so everyone feels confident about the flow, timing, and logistics. For MC clients, this can include a brief run-through of reception timings and key transitions.
Final Confirmation – Before the big day, I confirm all ceremony and reception details with you and your vendors (planner, photographer, venue manager, DJ/band) to ensure everything aligns seamlessly.
The Ceremony – I arrive early, set up my professional Bose sound system, check with your vendors, and deliver your ceremony with warmth, confidence, and charm. I make sure your guests feel included and that the moment feels effortless and authentic.
MC Hosting (if booked) – After your ceremony, I seamlessly transition into MC mode — guiding guests, introducing the bridal party, announcing speeches, coordinating the run sheet, and keeping the energy upbeat and engaging throughout the reception.
After the Wedding – I lodge all legal paperwork, provide copies of your certificates, and check in with you post-celebration to congratulate you and ensure everything was exactly as you hoped

I believe your ceremony should feel natural, joyful, and completely you. My couples often tell me they feel instantly comfortable — like they’re working with a friend who also happens to be a calm, confident professional.
With a background in performance, education, and event management, I bring both creativity and structure to every ceremony. I’m also an experienced MC, which means you can trust me to guide your entire day seamlessly from “I do” to the final toast. I will also add on the day coordination service to your event and work with you to develop a run sheet to guide your day.
My approach is modern, warm, and inclusive — what I call relaxed luxury. Every detail is handled with care, every word chosen with meaning, and every moment delivered with heart. Because when it all flows beautifully, you can simply be present, enjoy it, and remember it for all the right reasons.
